Info

For centuries, constellations have guided us through the night. The Gemini brings that experience home, casting a warm, celestial glow. The pair of ambient lamps created for your homes own path, inspired by the Gemini constellation.

Too much glass, not enough purpose

Glass manufacturing often results in excess — offcuts, overruns, and remnants that rarely get reused. In an industry driven by precision and perfection, what happens to what’s left behind?

What does it mean to re-purpose ?

Thoughts with Victor Olivier Sararu

Artist and founder of Galeria Ancora

Being an artist is breathing life in still water -- seeing potential in every leftover piece, like a puzzle coming together

Product that showcases the unique qualities of the leftover glass

goal

UNFOLD PROCESS

Breathing Light

I wanted for the glass to shine, allowing one to transform their space into a starry night.

Developing Concepts

This led to a pair of lamp concept, inspired by the Gemini constellation. Multiple iterations were made.

Prototyping to Scale

Since this was a heavy hands-on project, having a real size prototype meant I could check the glass pieces against it.

Action Plan

Built for the materials and disassembly consideration of the user to change light bulbs.

Fabrication

Drawing measurements were made for each brass plate before cutting to shape. While gathering all the necessary components.

Repurposed leftover glass from the shop, warm pastel for the top piece, and diffusing white glass for the bottom piece. Stained and waxed the brass, before putting everything together.
