A fashion show that brings out the truth within ourselves. A revelation in motion. Lunar Gala is the biggest student-run fashion show in Pittsburgh. The 2024 theme was: Liminal, occupying a position at, or on a boundary or threshold. The 2025 theme was: Elysium, paradise is not a place, is the act of becoming.

Paradise is not a place, it is the act of becoming

A conception of the afterlife that developed over time and was maintained by some Greek religious and philosophical sects and cults, taken on by Lunar Gala 2025.

What does stage design at lunar gala entail?

As co-head, I worked alongside a partner and a team of designers and architects

Space and seating, design and led screens

Create and lead the stage design team through elysium

One's path to eternity

We wanted the stage to be a walking experience, one where models were bound to follow.

Translating the vision

Starting with more logistics, seating, space, everything seemed to take a circular shape. The whole team sketched their ideas.

Bringing it in real life

As we sketched, we also went into Rhino and did a few iterations. We wanted it to explore the idea of flow.

What's the action plan?

Lunar Gala collaborated with the production company, Hughies, for stage design. Our designs had to be clear for their team.

Translating our vision

After many iterations, we chose an almond shape with colors differentiating the path from the eternal space. With the screens following the path.

Even though our diragrams were labeled as clear by the company, sadly the stage did not represent the diagrams sizing and materials. Carrying this as a lesson moving forward.
